How to Make the Most of Scarves

BEAUTIFUL SCARVES

When I found out I was going to be bald, I knew absolutely nothing about what to do with my head. I had never been a scarf wearer of any kind. I was going to have to figure out how to make the most of scarves. Even though I had never worn scarves, over the years I had managed to collect a huge collection of scarves! I always wanted to wear scarves. I had purchased most of them because I always imagined that I would wear them around my neck in some fashion. Over the years, they had been popular off and on. Each time they were seen on the runways, I would rush out and buy a few. But I just never wore them. They hung in my closet for y-e-a-r-s. When we were moving, and I was packing up my closet, I found all of these scarves. I came very close to giving them all to Goodwill, but in the end, I still had this vision that sometime in my life I would figure out how to wear them. Little did I know what was on the horizon for me.

The day I shaved my head, I went straight to the closet and found all of my scarves. I tried a few things, but nothing worked. I started to cry. What was I going to do? I had no idea what I was doing. So what did I do? I grabbed my phone and headed to the internet and youtube to figure out how to wear scarves – but not around my neck – instead on my head! And of course, I found many videos showing how to wear and tie scarves.

If you or someone you know is going to have to shave their head before Chemotherapy, it is advisable to head to the internet and look up videos on how to tie scarves on one’s head. There are many videos to choose from. Once you get the hang of it, you will be tying on scarves without a hitch! Just like anything new, it will take a little practice. I figured it out quickly, and started wearing scarves mainly because I did not want to frighten the children in the neighborhood. I loved all of my scarves and I really enjoyed wearing them. They did help me feel more beautiful for a while.

However, after several months of wearing scarves, I decided I was just going to embrace my baldness and go bald!! I kind of fluctuated back and forth. But I never felt bad about going bald. I figured I had earned the right to go bald. So depending on my mood on any given day, I might or might not wear a scarf.  I did not wear scarves at home. Since I spent so much time in bed, I did usually wear a beanie cap of some sort to keep my head warm. You don’t realize how cold your head can get when you have no hair!
